Working with Administration, Metal and Soul wrote and received a grant from the Four County Community Foundation in the Fall of 2018 to integrate the FLL Discover and Explore programs into the schools STEAM curriculum. STEAM teacher Mr. Mark Whitney, together with Mentor Mrs. Antilla, coordinate and run the teams as part of the STEAM rotations. Students in grades K and 1st participate in the FLL Discover program and the 2nd and 3rd graders participate in the FLL Explore program. Metal and Soul team members rotate to help mentor the teams during the school day. Each program completes with an evening EXPO for family, friends and community members. Students work hard on their projects and compete for awards. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to make a few changes in order to run the programs successfully and safely. Our Metal and Soul members were not able to mentor i n person due to school district restrictions, however they communicated with the student through videos and acted as judges for our Virtual EXPO. We had 18 FLL Discover teams and 16 FLL Explore teams this season.
